The Plaza de la Constitución is an esplanade that occupies the block formed by Agustinas Street to the north, Morandé Street to the east, Moneda Street to the south and Teatinos Street to the west in the district of Santiago Centro. At its sides, there are several of Chile's ministries and the Palacio de La Moneda, the seat of government, which is enhanced by a view of its facade. Its name is a tribute to the ten Chilean constitutions.

It is decorated with two water fountains in the southern part (hard square), three columns-oblisks, a stone commemorating the site where the Carrera family lived and five statues: Diego Portales, Jorge Alessandri, Eduardo Frei Montalva, Salvador Allende and Pedro Aguirre Cerda. It has masts with Chilean flags in front of La Moneda that represent the regions of the country.

It is one of the squares that frames the surroundings of the Palacio de La Moneda, becoming an icon of civility and the center of city life.

It is located on the grounds of the old headquarters of the Ministry of War and acquired its current design in 1984, when it was remodeled.

In it are located the statues of Diego Portales and the Presidents of the Republic Jorge Alessandri Rodriguez

It is located in the Civic District of Santiago, an area that includes the buildings that were erected around the Palacio de La Moneda during the first decades of the 20th century, under the direction of the Austrian urbanist Karl Brunner.
